It was a privilege to have known Brian throughout his teaching career when we had very many conversations about our profession, union matters and politics - the most recent at our RTAI meeting in Galway. He was insightful, kind, caring and a true gentleman. We're doubly sad to have missed his funeral as we were away.

Dear Catherine,

We were so sorry to hear the sad news that your dear Dad had passed away. We first got to know Brian when he was our INTO CEC representative, and later President of the INTO, back in the early 1990s. This connections developed into many others as the year went by.

Brian and I shared so many interests, in education and politics. I was fortunate to get to visit him in Brownsgrove School on several occasions, where his love for the children in his care was always so clear.

I subsequently worked with him in his role as manager of another school. Though we chatted to each other informally as friends, Brian's professionalism, diligence, dedication, and integrity, were at the forefront of all our conversations.

I feel very privileged to have you, Brian's daughter, as a colleague. He was very proud of you, as he was of all his children. This is a very difficult time for you all and we will remember you in our thoughts and prayers.
