I am in the Motor Trade and Brian has been a loyal customer to me and to Spirit Motor Group for the last Twelve years and what fun we have had .
Brian was like a father figures to me , forever giving me advice. He was one of a kind and what fun we have had in those years ,rocking into our showrooms ,always in shorts with his tanned legs and floral shirts regardless of the weather!! . He was an amazing character and we had created a really good bond.
Rest in Peace Brian ....My Friend My Buddy!!
Very sorry to read of Brian's death
My heartfelt condolences to Brian’s family, extended family and friends. I am shocked and saddened by his sudden death. Brian and I first met in the seventies, when we both frequented the coffee dock in Jury’s Hotel. There was music and laughter everywhere Brian went. He was a man of many talents, a gifted guitar player and singer, who reminded me of Glenn Campbell. In his memory, I have listened to songs that remind me of him throughout the day, such as ‘Gentle on my Mind’ and ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’. Brian will be sorely missed. Until we meet again, requiesce in pace.
Thoughts and condolences to ye all, Betty, Pete and Liz. Remembering great times with ye all and thanking Brian for giving me my first job and enabling me to come home from London. He’s holding court somewhere else now. Love to you all. RIP Big B. Maurice.
A one of a kind. Many happy memories. My deepest condolences. Brian will be sorely missed.
Deepest condolences to all the McNamara family .

Our deepest sympathy to Betty, Pete, Liz and family. So very sorry to hear of the sudden passing of such a larger than life character that was Brian. My memories of him will always be of his sense of humour and fun, and his great generosity to us as Liz's friends with his infamous money jars. A candle will be lighting in Oxford for him, may he rest in peace.
With much love Ciara and Seamus
To Betty Peter and Liz and all the family I send my deepest condolences on the passing of Brian. We had rekindled our friendship over the past few years and he was as challenging as ever - a contrarian, but never boring ! Many was the happy hour we spent with our guitars in hand and he credited me with being the only guy who explained the music theory in a scientific way - and then when his sharp intellect cracked the code he was like a child who discovered ‘Relativity’ - it wasn’t a mystery any more and he continued over the years to improve his skills once he had unlocked the door. His quest for knowledge was insatiable! and his enthusiasm for life never wained and remained right up to the end. Discussions on history science philosophy politics and commerce were long and animated and and tense but always worthwhile. Theology however could be very brief and relegated to the dustbin of human experience. Brian will be missed by his dear family and many friends -and will never be forgotten. My prayer for him is that he will find peace and happiness with all his beloved ones who passed before him and that the quest for knowledge will finally be answered in the bosom of the Eternal Lord in Heaven . Liam Kilkenny Malahide.
Didn’t see you lately and shocked to hear of your untimely passing. We had many ups and downs over the years both in business and in pleasure and neither of us knew who won, and yet the friendship flourished.
My sincere condolences to Betty Liz and Pete..
So sorry to read of Brian’s passing. Brian was the definition of positive thinking. The world needs people like Brian. I had great fun with him when we met and none more than the time of fitting out his apartment. My sincere condolences to all his family. Eamonn Hargadon
On behalf of the Coffey family and especially my mother Brona, I would like to extend our sincerest condolences and sympathies to Brian’s family and friends. We were so saddened at the speed of Brian’s passing.

Brian was a stellar neighbour to my parents, Michael and Brona, in Thornfield over the years and his kindness, neighbourliness and generosity will not be forgotten.

Soon after moving in many years ago, my father Michael, who had a great love of playing the piano, was playing “As time goes by” from Casablanca on his piano in his apartment below. New to apartment life, Michael may not have realised that not all neighbours might share his taste in music. However, a few minutes later, a note on a long piece of string appeared at their window having been lowered from the apartment above by Brian. It read “Play it again Sam!” Thus they realised they had a shared taste in music.

Michael and Brona enjoyed Brian’s company and conversations thereafter for many years.

Since Michael’s passing, Brian continued to keep an eye out and was always there to offer a helping hand. A mark of the man. Brona is greatly saddened to lose such a wonderful neighbour.

I personally will greatly miss our frequent chats when I visited and we bumped into each other. I regret that I didn’t know that our last chat recently was to be our final natter.

He will be missed by so many. May he Rest in Peace. - Maurice Coffey and family.

RIP Brian, hope you at peace. I remember your guitar and songs and love of music. You were the first person I knew with a VHS recorder and a CD player - always ahead of the game. From hot dog stands at the Dalkey Festival to antiques shop and even a riding school. You never sat still for long and certainly lived a colourful live. Rest in peace with those you loved who have gone before you. Paula, John and family xx

It is so sad to learn re Brian leaving us.

Chatting with him very recently he was as lively and positive as ever, a great colleague and friend over the years, such joie de vivre. We first met in 1977.

At Brooklyn he ran a superb Engineering business. Brian and his team carried out sterling work for Guinness brewery and for many other top businesses and industries in Dublin and Ireland. Nothing was too challenging, he always delivered.
