We wish to extend our sincere condolences to the Mc Cabe family on the passing of Brian. It was my pleasuere to serve on The Executive of the Garda Representative Association for nine years. During this time Brian was deputy General Secretary to the late Jack Marrinan with whom he worked closely. I always found Brian to be most helpful and available. He was always willing to listen and forthcoming with his opinions and advice when asked.
He was a tireless worker and advocate on behalf of his colleagues in the pursuit of better pay, training, equipment, conditions and facilities. Socially, we met Brian and his late wife Ann on several occasions during which they became our friends. May both thier souls rest in peace.

Brian was of that generation of Garda representatives that lifted the quest for better pay, better conditions, better equipment and better recognition for the role of An Garda Siochana to a higher level and into the consciousness of Garda members of all ranks.

He served as a Garda in Carlingford and Drogheda. He was GRA representive for Drogheda, Central Executive Representative for Louth-Meath Division and went on to serve as Deputy General Secretary of GRA and for a time was also chairman of Garda Medical Aid, posts he filled with integrity and honour.

He was a Fermanagh man, steeped in the Gaelic Athletic Association and although he held many positions in his local GAA club, St Colmcilles in Meath, including that of referee, he never lost his loyalty to his native county and followed them all his life.

A great family man he was very proud of his family and he has now joined his wife Ann, his close companion for many years, whom he greatly missed since her death in 2020.
