To Deirdre, Sarah and Paul.
Brian was very supportive to me last summer when my wife passed away in very similar circumstances, so my daughters and I know only too well the pain you are in and that no words can really console you at this time, but I sincerely hope you get some degree of comfort from the prayers and good wishes of his many friends and colleagues.
May the memories of the good times you had with Brian help give you strength.

To Deirdre, Paul & Sarah,
I had the great honour to know Brian well as part of my role in the Dublin Release Lab. A role he was kind enough to offer me in 2010 when it looked sure I would have to leave IBM with the movement of IBM Server oversees. We had many a heated discussion over some topics in this role as Brian like myself was often right and even when wrong did not care to admit it ;-). I will miss these exchanges, the chat on horse racing and football very much. Brian was a great man to have known and for sure the Department and indeed IBM will miss him and his talents for many years to come !
Farewell Boss.

I had the privilege of working with Brian in the earlier parts of this decade. On my first visit to Dublin, he took time to show me around the city including its numerous famous pubs. The very last time I visited Dublin was in 2015 and he joined another IBM colleague and me one afternoon for a wonderful chinwag. Brian also visited the Boulder area on business allowed us to spend time growing our friendship. The warmth and generosity of his spirit and the always ready humour is what I will always remember. Brian, you were taken too soon from your family and your friends. We are all poorer for your passing.
To Deirdre and your young adult children - may you be given the time and space to grieve fully and in time may it grow into a rich tapestry of loving memories of all of your time together with Brian. May these both sustain you along with your local family and community in the days to come.

I had the absolute pleasure to get to know Brian when he came to Boston for a working trip. I volunteered to drive him to the office so I had some time to get to know him. I remember thinking - "Now, this is a great guy!" Along with work, we talked about his children (he was so proud), and football among other things. I was the mother of a young one at the time, he was very encouraging. We checked in from time to time, and I always came away from our interactions with such positivity. In recent years, we had not connected as I moved to another group within IBM. Nonetheless, I am completely heartbroken that Brian is no longer a presence here on earth. My deepest condolences to Brian's wife and children, family and friends. I pray that you'll remember the good moments, and how great he was. i will remember him fondly. My best..Paula
