My sincere condolences to the Lucas family. I had the pleasure of working for Brian in both Athlone and Dublin Divisional Engineering Offices and have many fond memories. He was a great railway engineer, a fantastic man manager and a real gentleman. May he rest in peace.

I had the pleasure working for Brian as our Divisional Engineer in Athlone.
Brian completely transformed our work environment for the good. Many Great nights were had and enjoyable PWI trips. I will always be very grateful for how you helped me progress my career.

It was always a pleasure meeting Brian at the many Drama events he went to. He had a great eye for the theatre and we always enjoyed hearing his thoughts on the plays he saw with Lucan Drama.

What a privilege and a pleasure to have know the great Brian Lucas, first introduced to me by his son Cian many years ago.
A legend of a man is an understatement. Brian lived life, and lived it with a passion. A wealth of knowledge, insight and remarkable intelligence, Brian had it all. His three fine sons are a credit to him.
Brian will live on, long in the memory. When Ireland eventually do win the rugby world cup, Brian will be looking down from up above with a smile.

I got to know Brian well when we studied art together at Blackrock BFEI. A few years later Brian was
a regular guest at Ballyarthur, where he befriended, Capt.Ned Bayley, Rugby Legend Barney Mullen,
Racing Ace Reg Armstrong , and Hollywood Actor Richard Greene. Brians enthusiasm for mountaineering,
orienteering, snooker, railways , and exploring every country in the World was legendary.
Equally enjoying, discussions on , post tensioned concrete , Vivaldi , the history of Crimea , literature and
theatre - Brian was a true Renaissance man .
Brian was the very best friend , one could ever have . Farewell my friend .
