I wish to pass on my condolences to the Monahan family on the passing of Brian. I only heard the news after bumping into an old neighbour from Edenmore today. I went to school with Brian in St Malachy’s we also played a bit of GAA together as kids. I have fond memories of him when he worked in the local pub the Concorde and of his time in Dollymount House. Always up for a laugh and a bit of craic. His family where lovely people, his Dad Terry was a legend in Edenmore to so many kids such a wonderful man heavily involved in the GAA club, one of a kind. Sending my sympathies to Mick, Carol and Tricia on the sad loss of their brother thinking of you all at this sad time. Find comfort knowing Brian is safe in the arms of his beloved parents.
How tragic I have just learned of dear Brian's passing recently RIP Brian ......
Brian met him when both he & I we did a stink Our Lady NAVAN church hospital in July 2022. Brian & I were closely bedded in same wing & one day he was choking!
Being an asthmatic I knew some tricks of the trade on how to help myself when flem was choking me so I went over to comfort him in his seperate room where I calmly encouraged him to sit higher up on his bed to allow for flem to drain away from his lungs & chest. I also coached him on how I breathe when I experience difficulty & where I gave him some sweets to eat & strepsils which all helped to loosen congestion. I also suggested for Brian to buy a bottle of bee extract being propolis along with a bottle of raw honey & I asked him to get off any sugar product opting for honey instead. I did suggest Brian cover my suggestions with his specialists first to be on the safe side tho.
Brian he & I we were from different worlds but while he was choking I was happy to have been available to help him navigate out of his stressful moment which he was trying to deal with himself while lying down. I also suggested he ask his wife & children to gently massage his feet several times per day too . Brian said he was advised he had little time on his hands at being less than two years so it is tragic he went so much quicker than even had thought
My sincere condolences to his wife & children & his many friends

Our thoughts are with Ciara, Alan and Niamh.
There should be a Brian in everyones lives as you always felt so much better after talking to him and I will miss that but so grateful to have had a friend like him. We wish we could be there in person to bid our farewell but he will always be with us and leaves a legacy that money can't buy, a loving family and friends that fondly remember him.
