A man of great wit which, being honest at all at times, was forever accompanied by a great warmth and kindness. His wry humour and lopsided grin often cloaked a keen intelligence which allowed him to read people: he saw through bluster and buffoonery and never joined the laughing crowd if the laughter was mean. He was far too sophisticated for that.
His kind, smiling eyes were pathfinders to the gentle man who stood serenely by while all round him others lost the plot.
Slán leat, Brian, a chara. You weren't wondering as you left us.

We knew each other at St. Enda’s secondary school in Salthill, and more memorably in London in the 1970’s. In that big city Brian was always hospitable, a ready source of wit, and sharp as a tack. Many great memories. He will be missed.
