I was in Brids Honors maths class for the Inter Cert, I used to dread her class because I was hopeless at Honours Maths.By some miracle she got me over the line which was down to her brilliance as a teacher.

I was probably one of the worst students that Ms Kirby had the misfortune to encounter over her illustrious career, but despite that, one was left in no doubt you were in the presence of a force of nature. Ferociously committed to providing a superb teaching level to all her pupils, she was gifted intellectually and had a stellar career playing Bridge at a very high level for many years. Sincere condolences to all her family on the loss of a remarkable woman.

To Eddie, Orla, Daragh, Brian and extended families, we were very sorry to hear of the passing of Bríd - what an amazing legacy Bríd has left.

We shared beautiful meals and had much success and enjoyment as a mixed pairs partnership in the Bridge world over 25 years.

I still picture learning how to measure light velocity in her class in the 1960's at St. Clements. She had a commendable influence to the thinking of a generation of young Irishmen. She lives in our memories still. Rest in Peace

Dear Eddie, Orla, Brian, Darragh and the Kirby/ Keating Family. It is with great sadness that I heard of Brid's passing, and so soon after Cora's departure. Brid was a much loved member of our unique Achill community. I can imagine Brid and Cora having a good old chat up there in some Celestial version of Lourdie's.
