Bridget Greally

My deepest sympathies to the Greally family on the sad passing of Bridgie. I worked with Bridgie many moons ago in Fallers and she was an absolute lady. RIP

Picture a gift shop called the K and W Gift Shop next door to the post office in Eglington Street Galway in the late 1960s. It was the Crème de la crème of shops in Galway city and Bridgie was the Manager. A small group of secondary school pupils including myself, my sister Irene, Brenda Geoghegan, Mary O'Malley (and I'm sure I'm leaving out some - apologies) cut our teeth in the retail world under the guidance of the professional and kind Bridgie. Great business was done selling Waterford crystal and Aran knits to Americans and a good day meant Bridgie sent one of us to McCambridges to buy a Fuller Cake and we'd sit on boxes in the back with our cuppa and slice of cake.
I can safely say it was one of the most joyful periods of my life; the culture was one most employers would not understand today but it worked.
I was very sad to hear of Bridgie's death and send deepest condolences to her family - I especially remember Winnie who used to visit us in the shop, and her godson Frank Fox.
May Bridgie rest in peace and you all be consoled by the memories you have made together.

Our sincere condolences to all of the Greally Family on the sad passing of Bridget. I've such wonderful memories of my childhood, much of it spent back in Greallys. Bridget was always so kind and it was always so nice to meet her, she just loved to chat and catch up on everyone. She was so proud always of her family and especially of all her nieces and nephews who cared so much for her in her last few months. She is at peace now and having lots of tea and catching up with all her loved ones who have gone before her. May Bridget rest in peace.

Our frienship goes back to 1970 when we worked together in K & W and later in Fallers! We always enjoyed the catchup and memories of our holidays to London and Rome.
