I met Bridie when I volunteered at the day care centre in Lisdoonvarna. She had known my father in Ennis many years ago, she told me he had been a good friend of her father. Bridie was an elegant lady, quietly charming and well travelled. She was always good company and often talked about her sons and grandchildren who were very important to her. I am sad I won’t see her again and know she will be greatly missed. My sincere sympathies to her family and friends.

We were so lucky to meet Granny Griffin in Argentina supporting her grandson Eoin. We had such fun and craic with her, Hugh, Mary & family. Sincere condolences on the death of Bridie. She was an important contributor to a privately published history of the Griffins of Caherea. The interview that Michael Griffin and I conducted with her some years ago gave a great view into the past.

One of my fondest memories of childhood is sitting in the kitchen above the Roadside with my Granny Mary, Mary-Kate and Auntie Bridie watching Glenroe after Sunday tea. How they delighted in each others company, and what a special bond they had. Special people.

My thoughts today are with Bridie's close family, friends and all, like I, who mourn her at this time.

May she rest in peace now after a long, full life, well led.
