It's lovely to read all the tributes to Bridie. Although she was but a young child when I left Tarbert these are unsurprising given the wonderful family from which she emerged. I was a contemporay mainly of Eileen, Miley and Noreen. Miley and I were members of the same class when the family relocated to the village from Tarmons. We were also peers in the boxing club, in the FCA and in the Wren Boys. But it was in London that the generosity of the family was most manifest. Miley had made remarkable progress when I arrived there in the summers of the early 1960s as a student/teacher seeking to acquire funds for my pursuit of a degree in UCD. I needed only to ask and I was provided with the most accommodating employment from which I also acquired my first experiences in lifelong learning. He also had an eye to my well-being. I could add so much more in tribute. Suffice it to say that I'm not surprised that Bridie lived a life of such quality. Quality begets quality. Allow me to extend the greatesy sympathy to the members of her family in their loss as well as to those friends who are grieving at her departure.
