Dear Healy family,

It was with an uplifted yet heavy heart that I (Bryan) - along with Conor and Emer - attended Fiona and Garrett’s (our cousin) wedding a few days ago.

It was such a wonderful, warm and touching day from early until late; a happy occasion too. But what we sensed throughout it all, despite not meeting the lady, was what a very loved woman Bridie was and massive presence in so many people’s lives for so many years.

And from what I heard about her on the day, I have no doubt Bridie was looking down at the events, smiling at her wonderful daughter and family.

So to Fiona, and extended family (it was so lovely to meet you all), the thoughts and prayers from our entire family are with you, as are our sincerest sympathies.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hAnam,
The O’Callaghans

Mary, Dermot, Éilís, Fiona and Padraig,

Mark and I were so sorry to hear of Bridie’s death. She was a lady of steel, professionalism and, especially, elegance- a true matriarch- and such an important figure in north Mayo tourism before there was an industry. Both she and your father certainly gave their all, against the odds, decade after decade and along the way giving much happiness and a relaxing environment to their loyal clientele, many of whom (including my parents) became firm friends. Bridie’s food map of exquisite duck and excellent steak, not to mention mouth watering Baked Alaska, will live long in our family memories. The outstanding gift that she had, above all, was to have time for everyone, despite her incredibly busy life. You will all miss her but hopefully you can look back on a long life, well lived. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all the family. May she rest in peace.
