It was with much sadness that I heard of the passing of my lovely Bridie. We had been friends for more than 50 years. I always remember calling for the cup of tea and the lovely chat! I have such wonderful memories of Bridie, a beautiful lady with a beautiful smile! To Tom, Flor and to everyone in your family I extend my sincere condolences on the passing of the wonderful Bridie. Deepest sympathy to Thomas and Flor. Flor was in the scouts with me long ago and Thomas was a scout leader in the 73rd scouts. The scouts were a brilliant organisation. There were forty people in the scouts with me. None of those people ever came to the attention of the guards. None of these people ever got involved in any kind of antisocial behaviour. None of those people ever ended up before the courts. Scouting combatted antisocial behaviour I think it should be made compulsory for young people to join the scouts. The state owes the scouts a great debt They never got funding from the government when they should have. They also catered for people with disabilities I have a friend with a disability who is able to hold down a job away from home because of what the scouts did for him. The scouts gave me and people like me my freedom and independence Thank you Thomas and all the other scout leaders.
