My thoughts and prayers are with Brigid's family and partner Don on Brigid's sudden untimely passing! A wonderful lady with an infectious smile and sense of humour , with amazing artistic talents, skills and qualities. Rest in Peace Brigid , everyone who had the pleasure of knowing here in Castlepollard will miss you so very much.

Daniel, Andrew and Alex, your Mam was a constant support to you as students and to our school during my time there from 2009 until last year. She was always lending a hand and we really valued her artistic skills when we needed help. I am sorry for your sad loss and I send my condolences to all your family.

I think everybody is still in shock so we can only imagine how you all are. Brigid was a very special person to so many, loved by everyone who met her, generous with her talent and, by God, was she talented. She was by far the best artist I know and her poetry and musings were brilliant! She had a fantastic sense of humour and her laugh was infectious. She was full of life, lived life to the full and knew she was blessed.

In you, Don, she found her ‘mate’, you were the ideal couple, matched to perfection.
Ciara, David, Daniel, Andrew and Alex and, of course, Max, ye were her world. She was so proud of you all and the lovely people you became. She was a proud mam! You did brilliantly yesterday, Ciara.

Brigid has left a void that can never be filled. I will miss her.

Don't know if you know this, but that day we met, when you were painting on the green the day of the fair. That was the first weekend after we moved. Someone had already said that we're too out of town to count as "proper" 'pollard folks & we'd been crushed because we were so looking forward to being part of a community, so we still went to the fair 'just in case'.
I've never worked out if you waved me over just 'cos it's just who you were, or because you thought I was someone else & were styling it out. I'm betting the former.
Whichever it was, you were the first friendly face in 'pollard. All that enthusiasm & beautiful painting you were doing. I could've watched you paint forever. You were the one that pointed me toward the ICA that day, told me not to be shy & said I had something to give the town. I'm still not sure where that faith in me came from, but I promise I'll keep trying my best.

One of my fave memories is when we were trying to get the arts weekends going & you came & did that picture out of a mix of the atmosphere, Sam's music, & the shape of my hair. That was some kind of magic alright.

Thanks for all the magic Brigid. I'm so sorry I can't bring that cuppa & cake to the square while you paint 1 more time, like we talked about a couple weeks ago. I'm stuck seeing a grin on your face now you know what beyond looks like. I'm betting you've painted it already?

She touched all our lives in so many ways since the day she arrived in Castlepollard. From the day I met her she felt like an old friend and that never changed. I can't believe she's gone. But as was said in the sermon she will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. Well done Ciara on your beautiful words. She would be so proud of you. Mind yourselves and each other.
