Cahal Burke

Cahal was a great person to talk to. At the Christmas dinner at huddersfield Irish centre he was asking me how I thought the May electons would go. He will be missed by all in Huddersfield. May he rest in peace.

We send our heartfelt sincere condolences to Cahal’s father, daughters, sisters and all his family and friends. Cahal helped our campaign in the Edgerton and Lindley areas a few years ago, and we surprisingly won the campaign. He was devoted to residents, kind and always supportive. Requiescat in Pace Cahal.

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Cahal’s passing.

He was a very good friend during my time in Huddersfield. We shared a house when times were tight, but we shared plenty of great craic too. No matter how many years passed, he always made the effort to check in, which says a lot about the kind of person he was.

I only wish I had made it back for another meet-up in Huddersfield. I suppose that one will have to wait now.

My thoughts are with his daughters, his family, and all his friends.

I met Cahal at new college, we had a conversation and he was honestly a really nice man, he told me to get into politics and to follow what I believe is right. An amazing person and so sad to hear he’s gone

Cahal was a great ambassador for Co Mayo. He did significant work supporting the community as Mayor of Huddersfield and organised the hoisting of the Tricolour. A gifted and talented man gone too soon. Condolences to all his family.
