David and I are very sad to hear about the passing of the lovely Candida. She was always so friendly to us since we moved to the area and always stopped for a chat on the lane. Jessie will also miss Candidas belly rubs. We wish we got to hear more of Candidas interesting stories ❤️
Shalom Candida

I remember lovely chats with Candida in M&S and thought of her often since it closed, our loss was the Zoo's gain. Rest well dear lady.
I was very sorry to hear of your passing Candida, you were a true lady with a great sense of humour. Your glamour will be missed from the volunteer programme xxx My thoughts and prayers are with your friends and family at this sad time xxx Sleep well friend xxx
Candida joined the volunteer team in Dublin Zoo in 2017, she would travel in on the 46A on Tuesdays and Fridays and I believe her bus driver always commented when he saw Candida that is must be ‘Zoo day today!’.
Her love of animals was obvious. when on duty in the Zoo Candida would often comment that she needed to go say hello to her ‘friends’ , and she wasn’t always referring to her fellow volunteers!
Candida loved the big cats and the wolves, and had a soft spot for our tapirs, who unfortunately would often get overlooked by visitors, Candida made sure to stop people walking past and encourage them to learn more about these creatures that she admired - and was often very successful in securing new fans for them.
Candida was always so generous with her time, not only in her volunteer work for Dublin Zoo and helping to inspire a passion for nature in our visitors, but also with her fellow volunteers sharing her knowledge, humour and always time for a friendly chat.
We will miss our glamourous Candida, who was always so well presented. Candida was known for accessorising her Zoo uniform with her trademark gold and diamante leopard brooch that she wore for every shift, despite this going against the uniform regulations - there’s no stopping a true individual!
Rest in peace Candida

Candida,s love of live and all things in the animal world, especially dogs, was inspiring. She was a beautiful if a bit quirky lady and well beloved by all her volunteer friends in Dublin Zoo. She shall be sadly missed by all who were privileged to know her!
Darling Candida, I will always treasure our friendship and our trips to the Horse Show with a fancy lunch. Our New Years day outings and those phone calls that started with a wildlife tv programme and continued to
books, art and of course the Zoo.
A life well lived.
Farewell friend.
