Father Martin was always a positive priest, who saw the good and potential in everyone and in every situation. He was always kind and compassionate. Even though his ministry could not always have been an easy one, he never appeared to have a bad day or a hard job. He loved people, and people loved him. I will always remember him with the utmost respect and fondness. May he rest in the peace and love he so richly deserves.

I remember Fr Gleeson visiting us in Lisheenkyle N.S and Pres Athenry in the 1960s and very early 1970s. Very dedicated and sincere, and very friendly. He always served to the best of his ability. A job well done

When we were talking about him the other night Dad told us that Canon Martin and Uncle John RIP both of them, went around the houses in village to collect money for their first football... and the Carrantryla Slashers got going. Sincere Condolences on the passing of Canon Gleeson, to the Gleeson family and to his fellow priests. I can remember very clearly he calling to Strawberry Hill N.S. (new school) in the early 70’s doing the Catechism exam with us and of course having a great chat of football with our teacher Mr Purcell…
He was always very kind and genuine. May he rest in Heavenly Peace Amen.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Canon Martin. My deepest sympathy to his family and to his fellow priests. I had the privilege of working with Canon Martin when he set up the Pastoral Council in Claremorris and he was always so supportive and encouraging. He was such a lovely man. He was so genuine, kind, caring and empathetic and was deeply respected and loved. I feel privileged to have known him. May he rest in peace. He played bridge with us in the club and enjoyed the game whether he won or lost. I remember clearly the night he went 3 no trump and got no trick, he really enjoyed it. Fr.
