Sincere condolences to the O ‘ Doherty and Mangan families on your great loss. Micheál was a compassionate, caring and good humoured man - a scholar and a gentleman. We had many interesting chats over a game of golf and in the club house. He was a wonderful support to our family when my brother Michael died at a young age. His work with Accord was outstanding. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

My sincere sympathies to Micheál’s family, friends and fellow priests. To his sisters Maeve and Una, his brothers Fr. Donal and Brian, his brother-in-law Gene, and his nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Micheál was the first priest I got to know as a young child, and I have fond memories of him as a priest in Listowel in the late 1970s, along with the late Monsignor Peter O’Sullivan and the late Fr (Canon) Denis O’Mahony.
My late mother would often fondly remind me of my childish inability to pronounce Micheál’s surname correctly (as a small child I used to refer to him as Fr O’Mahoughty rather than Fr O’Doherty). But I always remembered him with fondness as part of my childhood in Listowel. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Canon Micheál O'Doherty. He was National Director of CMAC from 1984-1993. In a year when Accord Catholic Marriage Care Service (the successor of CMAC) marks its 60th anniversary on the island, Canon Micheál was the centre priest for the Kerry Centre when CMAC was formed in 1970. He was very committed in his life to supporting marriage and the family. May he now enjoy eternal rest.
