I was so sad to hear of Fr Phils passing. The last time we met was when he and his brother came to athy in Feb 2019 to assist at my Fathers funeral mass. They made a big journey to come and do that and we never forgot their kindness to all of us. Previously they visited my Dad Pat in his last year-he loved their visit and the talk went on so long that we headed off to wexford at nine that night for our holidays, arriving at 11, and my Dad was 96 then. They both made the most if everyday.
Fr Phil was an adventurer, great conversationalist, bright, interesting and kind. It was a privilege to have met him. May he rest in peace

Heartfelt Sympathy to the Connolly family especially Fr Vincent on the death of Canon Phillip. He was in Tydavnet Parish for a long time and visited my parents on a regular basis, they loved to see him coming, he was a jolly man and brightened up their day. He was a well loved and respected priest and will be missed by so many.

Canon Philip Connolly RIP. Sincere condolences to Fr. Connolly's family! He was a kind & pleasant person who was very helpful to many, when my father Eddie Keenan was ill in the mid sixties, he often visited dad. & brought comfort to mam. & us.

I was very sorry to hear of Canon Phil's death and I extend my sympathies to Mongr. Vincent and the extended family. He was in Annyalla when both my parents and my brother died and he was an incredible support to us during those challenging times - just as he was for so many families in the parish when they suffered loss. It was an incredible achievement for Fr. Phil to get approval for two new schools in a rural parish, culminating with the official opening by Niamh Bhreathnach of Annyalla and Doohamlet new schools on the same day. My father, John Duffy, as the oldest living past pupil, planted a tree outside the new school in Annyalla at the opening. Canon Phil took a genuine interest in people and knew his flock in Clontibret parish intimately well - as he had already done in Tydavnet parish years earlier. Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a anam.

He was a great Wee Man who Enjoyed chatting & supporting the people off Tydavnet. Fond memories off him out & about on his Bicycle visting the Houses.
