To Dermot and family we send our deepest condolences on your very sad loss. Having met Denis many years ago, when he was involved with CIL and Trinity House close cooperation. He also worked closely with my own father. He was clearly very well thought of by the whole seafaring community and will clearly be sadly missed by his many friends both in CIL and his obvious very active retirement .
On behalf of the Board of Directors and all the members of Greystones Bridge Centre I wish to extend our sincere sympathies to all of Denis’ family. Denis was a valued member of our Board of Directors for many years. He always did a huge amount of work on behalf of us all - quietly and unnoticed until he retired, when his absence became sorely felt.

Deepest sympathies to Dermot, Suzanne, and the extended Gray family and friends, from the Deignan family. Denis was a lifelong friend and great colleague in Irish Lights of our dad Owen Deignan who also sadly passed away just a few days ago. Owen and our mother Terry always spoke very highly of Denis and Pat with many anecdotes of times past. Your family are in our thoughts at this difficult time. RIP Denis and Pat.
Sincere condolences to the Gray family on the death of Denis. I first met him almost sixty years ago when spending time aboard (the old/old) Granuaile, and when, following our return to Dublin port, Pat collected us from Kelly's on the South Wall and somehow managed to squeeze both him and me into their tiny VW Beetle for a lift home. Denis later became my boss in Irish Lights Office, and encouraged me on occasions to accompany him on inspection trips on the coast, even if this meant me taking precious annual leave when we couldn't think of a good enough official reason for me to do so. He introduced me to very many of the fantastic people who made up the "Irish Lights Family", including their wives, children and families, whom I've always felt very privileged to have known and worked alongside, like the "big fella" himself, indeed. May he rest in peace, alongside his beloved Pat.
