He was a highly respected and very progressive harbour master for Limerick and the Shannon Estuary at an important time in the development of the Estuary. He was also an eminent President of the Irish Institute of Master Mariners. Kevin was an invaluable source of wisdom and knowledge on all matters shipping and port operations which he was happy to share with all who needed his advice, including myself. Rest in peace, Kevin.

I always looked forward to him coming in & cherished his conversations. My deep sympathy to the family of Kevin on their sad loss. I remember Kevin with affection and respect. During the years I spent as a member of Limerick Harbour Commissioners in the 1980s, I grew to recognise how competent he was in his post and how dedicated to ensuring the success of Limerick Harbour. As former seafarers, Kevin and I had a basis of shared experience that helped to make us allies on many occasions on Harbour business. Sadly, we lost touch when he retired and I moved abroad. He has earned a good berth and fair sailing weather in Heaven. The holy sacrifice of the mass will be offered for the repose of his soul at San Lorenzo Church, in Palmanova, tomorrow, 27th July.

It is with deep regret and fond memories that we learn of the passing of Kevin, our past president of the Irish Master Mariners and an international Fellow of the Nautical Institute. Kevin's rendition of a favourite Limerick tune There is an Isle during the IMM AGMs was a cherished moment, warmly supported by all attendees. It is with great sadness we received the news of Kevin's passing. Kevin was one of life's true gentlemen, always so pleasant to meet. I will remember with much fondness our many chats, particularly in relation to Irish History, a topic on which he was very well versed.
Kevin's family were his life and his eyes shone everytime he spoke about them.
