Sending my deepest condolences to all the extended family.
I have such fond memories of Carmel and will remember her kindness when I first moved to Dublin to study in Trinity. She was one of the most interesting people to talk to and I will think of her fondly.
May she rest in peace

I'm not alone here in expressing my sincere sympathies, gratitude and such fond memories as a past pupil of "Mrs Duggan". What an intelligent, fair, enthusiastic, energetic and inspirational woman and teacher she was. She clearly loved her subject-matter and conveyed that to so many of us who had the privilege of being in her Latin class at St Annes. Add to that the example she gave us in terms of being a working woman/mother (back then!) and of her ability to combine hard work, rigour and good-humour... and I could go on! Her family must be very sad but also so very proud of her. Requiescat in pace.
I had Mrs. Duggan for Latin at St. Anne's in the early 1980s. I will always remember her zeal for education and her love of Latin and Roman history She got a bunch of teenage girls excited about the Punic wars! Rest in power, Mrs. Duggan!
My deepest sympathies to Karen, Peter & Paul, on the death of your mum Carmel. She was one of my favourite teachers in secondary school, knowledgeable, thorough, entertaining and enthusiastic. I always remember her striding into the classroom & the way she held our attention. When I returned to St Anne’s as a teacher, Carmel was deputy principal. She was a real mainstay for me in those first years, & I really appreciated her support. She was conscientious and serious, & she had a humorous side. When I was 15, & a favourite aunt invited me to accompany her on a trip to Italy, Carmel invited me to her house and plied me with information about Rome and Pompeii. Not many teachers do that. And, no surprise, my husband & I honeymooned in Rome a decade later! I’ll always be grateful to Carmel. I admired her stoicism, her ‘can do’ attitude, & her devotion to duty. Her classes were inspiring. Julius Caesar was my teenage heartthrob! The best teachers change lives, & Carmel was hugely influential in mine. Commiserations to her grieving family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sí.
My sincere sympathy to the family of Mrs Duggan on her passing. She was a great teacher and passed on her love of Latin as a language and the ancient Roman history that went with it. Always an interesting class.
My deepest sympathies to Paul, Peter and Karen on the loss of your Mum. Warm memories of the kindness that she showed me.

My deepest sympathy to Karen and her family for the loss of a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother. Being a school friend of Karen's, I first met Mrs Duggan in Park Drive and can still see her standing by the Aga in the kitchen. I was struck by her distinctive and strong personality, which seemed to remain unchanged throughout her long life. Her passing marks the end of an era and I am very sorry not to be with the family at this time. You are all in my thoughts.

To Mummy's friends and neighbours from her parish at Milltown: she did not want any non sacred expression at her funeral. Therefore, please accept heartfelt gratitude for all the largely unseen kindness, support and friendship you provided throughout her long walk into illness. There are too many of you to name individually, and more again who would shy away from public recognition, but please know your care was seen, marvelled at, and greatly appreciated.
