It was with great sadness we read of Carmel’s death. We have such happy memories of the early days in OBCC when Brendan and Carmel entertained all the team in their beautiful bungalow in Templeogue and later the parties in Killiney

It is with great sadness that on today, Rachels anniversary, we have just heard of your amazing Mum's passing.
She was great fun and most definitely the " Hostess with the Mostess "
Sunday lunches were legendary as were the numerous parties in Kilmore.

Sincere Sympathies to the family of Carmel,a great Lady. She was my caddy in my first ever 5th Team match in Elm Park in early 1980s. In trouble in trees, she got me to punch the ball out with a 4 iron. It ran up an elevated green to the pin.We won the match for Killiney. Thank you Carmel. Joan

Brenda, Louise, David & Liz, sincere condolences on behalf of the Lyons family on the death of your beautiful Mum Carmel. I have many fond memories of Carmel, she was a very special lady and a hugely valued member & past Captain of Killiney Golf Club. News Year's Eve for my parents was always a visit to Kilmore in Killiney for the legendary Mc Grath celebration of the New Year. Mum still talks fondly of these parties & the great fun that was had by all. Carmel will be sadly missed, RIP Carmel.

Sincere condolences to all of Carmel's family from myself and all the staff in Peter Mark Merrion. Carmel was such a fabulous lady, so kind and witty,we had great chats and laughs over the years. She often gave out to me for not driving, saying how important being independent is and I was so happy to tell her when I finally did, she gave great advice :) She spoke about her children and grandchildren with such pride and loved spending time with them. I will miss her so much, heartbreaking to hear the news, what an amazing lady Xx

I am so sad to learn that Carmel has passed away. She was a wonderful lady, full of fun and joie de vivre. We had some great times around matches in killiney, win or lose.

Dear Brenda, Louise, David and Liz, my sympathy and condolences to you all on the passing of your wonderful Mum, a fabulous friend to all in Killiney Golf Club. Your adorable Mum and my late Mum Eilis were great great friends, playing nearly every day....whenever they could! Carmel became a great friend and playing partner and source of great encouragement to me when I got my hands on a golf club in the late 70s. She and I were sent out to bat for Killiney on the 2nd team. You may not know of the foggy morning Carmel and I were on the timesheet together in the Thursday competition. Most ladies were reluctant to go out. Your Mum knew what score I needed to have to reduce handicap from 6 to 5. I got the kick under the table and she said "come on you! Let's do this!" So out we went. We must have been nuts!! Driving at each hole was fine. Thereafter your Mum would run 25 yards ahead of me up the fairway shouting "If you can see me hit it over my head" Then closer to the green she stood on each green beside the hole and guided me in!! Nothing short of a pantomime!!! We completed the 18 holes, fell around the 18th green helpless with laughter, finally making it into the clubhouse to tell our great friend, the late Maura Brennan, our fabulous handicap secretary to get her calculator out!!!! Well thank you Carmel my dear friend..it was a day to remember forever! Well you have run the good race and can now join your lovely Brendan and Rachel. RIP dear friend Niamh xxx
