Dear Sarah, condolences to you and all your family on the recent loss of your mother. With the current restrictions, things are a bit more difficult at this time.

A real true blue was Mrs.Whelan bless her. So sorry to only hear of your Mum’s passing tonight Martin. A real lady with a spectacular singing voice, quick wit and what a glint in the eye! Your late Dad Noel and your Mum Carmel were some ‘DUO’ kindness personified always ready to lend a hand. Rest assured if times were different Carmel’s funeral Mass would have filled the church pews, doorways and beyond.......
Condolences to you Martin, Nichola, Louise, Richard, Stephen, Jenifer, brothers and sisters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family. The light is not extinguished but only gone to pastures anew.......

My sincere sympathy to the Whelan family. I have many happy memories of Carmel and Noel at Aunty Kathleen's parties in Beal na mBlath. Carmel also sang at my sister's wedding ceremony in Sutton, 1976.

With her great love of music and blessed with a beautiful lyrical voice , singing, Choirs, Concerts, Hymns and musical gatherings featured strongly in her life . Such great memories she has left us ! Carmel had a warm, caring, self-depreciating nature with a wonderful sense of humour and there were long afternoons in Anneville with China teapots, apple tart, endless cups of tea and of course lots of chat and fun.! As the song says " its the laughter we will remember whenever we remember the way" Carmel was . Surely she is resting in peace.

I was deeply saddened on learning of Carmel passing. I had the privilege of knowing Carmel and a nicer lady you could not meet. I loved Carmel as the lady she is and her beautiful sence of humour her little giggle at the funny side of life. May you Rest in Peace Carmel. Your family has an Angel watching over them.

Carmel was a good friend of the late Sr Elizabeth Butterly RIP when the Sisters of Christian Education lived in the Dundrum Parish. We send our prayer and sympathy to all the family. Carmel was a great lady and very involved in the Dom Marmion Society and the Choir when we lived in Dundrum. May she Rest In Peace.

I have great memories of Carmel in the choir where she was a very committed member. Sincere condolences to her family which she adored.

Death leaves a heartache that nothing can heal but love leaves us memories that no one can steal.

Carmel will be greatly missed by all who knew her and shared her friendship. Carmel was a valued member of our various singing groups, always contributing her best. Her sense of humour and infectious laugh will remain with us until we meet again. Our sympathies to all the family and to Carmel's many friends who grieve at this time when it's not possible for us to be together to celebrate her life as we should. A time will come when we can do so. Her passing came suddenly but peacefully in the end as we prepared to celebrate the feast of the Ascension. Rest in peace, Carmel, and rise in glory.
