Dear Ger, I am deeply saddened to hear about the loss of your beloved son, Cathal. With heartfelt sympathy to you and all the extended family.

I'm deeply sorry to hear of Cathal's passing, it's such a shock. I was in Scouts with him and he was a great guy, easygoing, friendly and with an enthusiasm for life.

Ger…So very sad and shocked to hear of the death of your lovely son, Cathal. It has been such a long time since l saw him last but my memory of him then was of a very nice young man. He grew to be such a talented and very decent human being. His loss must be unimaginably difficult. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

I'm so sad to learn of Cathal's passing. Some of my happiest memories are of being footloose and fancy free with Cathal in our 20s hanging around beaches in Sligo. We had a lot of fun - laughing, scheming about what beach to go to next or how we could turn some of his clever creations into businesses. He was a really gifted and gentle soul.

Very shocked and upset to hear of Cathal’s untimely passing . We had such great times rambling from beach to beach and jumping into the sea. He was such a natural talent and creative soul. Thinking of all his family xxx

Ger, I am very sorry to hear the news of Cathals passing. I first met Cathal in San Francisco on a J1 in 2002 where he brought us surfing for the first time and since then became a good friend. He was a big part of our group of friends who spent many years surfing in Sligo, we had many many great times together. Cathal will be sadly missed and he will be forever remembered. XX

Gerardine, I’m so sorry I never had the pleasure of meeting Cathal. To Ger, Gerard and family.

I simply cannot comprehend the scale of your grief at the loss of Cathal. The world must feel like a duller, dimmer, colder place today. What I can say is that Cathal connected with and inspired so many people while he was on this earth and - although cruelly cut short - his time with all that knew him was so valuable to us, and will always be cherished.

Our world has lost a curious mind that really wanted to improve the lives of those around him. I mourn the possible projects he now won't complete - but know this - he made a difference to my world and that of so many others. May this be his legacy we all treasure - and that knowledge provide you with some small solace every time you think of him.

Ger - its been a long time since sitting in your kitchen in Sligo with Cathal. I am devastated for you. You were his world and he was yours. Dear Ger, sorry to hear this very sad news. We lived 2 doors down from yee when I was a child and have memories of Cathal from then and also from secondary school socialising with Cathal and having lots of laughs and shenanigans. I haven’t seen him since that time but have thought of him.
