Margaret and I send our condolences to you on the death of your dear mother Kitty. I have happy memories of Kitty and your dad Paddy. One that is still vivid is when they brought me by car from Sligo for my first day at UCD.

We are also thinking especially of Ursula in Letterkenny and Michael in America.

I was indeed very saddened to read of Kitty’s passing last week. It seems not long ago at all (possibly 10 years or a little over that) when our paths crossed in Monkstown church. She was then a senior citizen &, when I introduced myself to her, she could immediately recite an impressive level of detail about our respective families. As I recall, there were one or two further occasions where we conversed after Mass. Years before then & back in the 196Xs, there were ‘play’ exchanges as between Ashton Park (Rafferty’s) & Shandon Park (MOLLOY’s). My brother Gerard & I had a ‘sandpit’ there where we hosted visitors. I’m sure there is a picture somewhere illustrating a mix of Molloys & Rafferty’s in that era (if not Blackrock sandpit, then some seaside location in the west of Ireland (such as Mullaghmore) in Sligo. Were it not for the fact that I am currently confined to hospital with some medical issues, I would attend on either or both Sunday 5th / Monday 6th. My sincere sympathies to all the Rafferty and wider Henry families. Ian Molloy & family, Blackrock.
