Sympathy to Ambrose family on passing of Cathy,but as a past pupil I would always call her Miss Ambrose. She dedicated many years to Scoil Bhanrion na hEagna, Rathkeale and was a very important leader in that wonderful staff.She taught me Irish and Geography to leaving cert and was very thorough .I still remember Peig and Toraiocht Diarmaid agus Grainne as gaeilge and of course the stalagmites , stalactites and Ruhr valley industrailization of Germany in geography

I just wanted to express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Ambrose, at this very sad time. I have many memories of Ms Ambrose during my time in Rathkeale. I was witness to many acts of charity which she did in an understated and humble way. She was a fantastic Irish teacher. She even helped me to enjoy Peig Sayers - no mean feat !! She encouraged her students to be the best version of themselves. I met her many years after finishing in school and thankfully got an opportunity to thank her. She fobbed me off, too humble to take the praise. It is testament to her character to read many of the condolences from her past pupils. I hope she is rewarded in heaven for her toil on earth. Rest in Peace Ms. Ambrose.

For many of us, Cathy was much more than just a teacher, she was an institution. Whether she was bringing the history of the Irish language to life or making the geography of the world seem instantly tangible, her passion was infectious.
We all knew Ms. Ambrose as a powerful presence. As a teacher and as our Vice Principal, she commanded respect, and yes, perhaps a little healthy fear! She had a way of cutting straight to the heart of the matter, a firm look that could silence a noisy corridor, usually followed by one of her wonderfully quirky, dry witted remarks that would leave us suppressing a laugh. She held us to the highest standard, because she believed in our potential, and for that, we are all better people.
The legacy of Ms. Ambrose lives on in every student she challenged, every young person she inspired, and every one of us who passed through the halls of Scoil Bhanrion na hEagna.
