Cecil Geelan

Deeply saddened to learn of Cecil’s death. So many fond memories of a man who brought light into the life of his Godson. He did so much good and shared kindness in the world, so often out of sight. Sincere condolences to all who knew and were close to him. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

Sincere condolences to Cecil's friends and family on his sad passing. My late wife Eleanor knew Cecil from infancy, and I for only fifty years, through his very great friendship with the late Bob and Hilda Pidgeon. This connection extended to our sons Matthew and Emmet, and included holidays in Cornamona and Lough Corrib, and excursions on "the Geelan Line" on the Shannon. His courtesy to all, his quiet support and hard work for many charitable organisations, and his loyalty to friends, will be greatly missed.

Cecil Geelan.... What a wonderful person, colleague, friend and absolute gentleman! Cecil always had a truly generous spirit and really enjoyed helping others in so many ways! He will always be remembered for all his charitable work throughout his life. Cecil operated to the highest standards in all his activities. He will be greatly missed.

He also did so many personal favours including for my son Alexander. How could we ever thank him - never- he would not hear of it. Cecil was a great stalwart of the Hibernian Insurance and a gentleman to his fingertips. He was extremely charitable and also a very proud Leitrim man. RIP Cecil.
