When Ukrainian refugees first arrived in Howth, Cecil was very welcoming to those who attended St Mary’s. One lady, Anzhelika, who has since moved to Canada, appreciated Cecil’s kindness and has asked me to convey her condolences to Cecil’s family.

Alan and Gillian, thinking of you after the death of Alan’s beloved dad. By all accounts he was a true gentleman and loved by all. I’m sorry for your loss and thinking of you at this difficult time.

Emer and I are deeply saddened to hear of the passing away of our dear friend Cecil. We both have so many happy memories of Cecil and in particular of our trip to Spain in his captain's year for the Evening Herald Golf competition. We enjoyed some lovely dinners there with Cecil and Florrie. Cecil has been a monumental figure in Royal Dublin for so many years. His contribution to the club has been inestimable as a member, Captain and Trustee. His wise advice to many Captains over the years and his wonderful, mischievous sense of humour will long remain in my memory. Our condolences to Alan, Gillian and all his other family members and innumerable friends.
