My house backed onto Belgrove and we used to play in there swinging on the railings. Cecil used to give us minerals to drink and was always so friendly and kind. RIP a true gentleman.

First met Cecil in 1968 when playing with Belgrove F.C. and still met him regularly in Portmarnock where we both lived. A lovely man, may he rest in peace.
Condolences to the Nolan family on the death of Cecil. I'm sure that it's of great solace to know that Cecil had such a positive influence on so many people. The Grove was a shining light during what were often challenging times for young people growing up on Dublin's Northside. Suaimhneas síoraí dó.
Thanks for the great memories from the Grove. Cecil .R.I.P.
Music has a power like nothing else. it bonds people regardless of their age or status. Cecil opened that door for all us young Grovers, and gave us an appreciation for a variety of music. He was simply the guy who would invite you in to his sitting room to listen to his records, that sitting room being the Grove!
He had a varied and eclectic taste and introduded me to a lot of great artists that I have followed ever since. I will never forget those great times and all the great music!
Thanks Cecil!
