Sincere condolences to Clare and all the family. Charles was a wonderful lecturer – wise, practical, and above all, a true gentleman with great wit. I will always treasure our catch-up dinners, which were full of fun and laughter. He will be greatly missed
Sincere sympathy to the Geaney family. May Charles Rest in Eternal Peace.
Our sincere condolences to the Geaney family on the death of your brother, Charlie, remembered by the Connolly family as a very gentle man.
Dear Claire (and family),
I was so sorry on hearing that Charlie had died. I remember him with great fondness. He was a really good friend and colleague throughout the many years that we worked together in the Smurfit School at UCD. I was glad of his advice and support on many occasions.
We had good evenings out with both of you, before you moved to Australia. We also remember a really nice day with you in Melbourne, when we stopped on our trip back to Ireland. A lunchtime get-together continued throughout the day and into the evening, before we parted so that you could catch the last train to Geelong. It was a really good day. Our last meeting was when you paid a final visit to Ireland.
We send our support and very best wishes. Thank you for arranging that we could see the service from your local church in Geelong.

Just watched the funeral service online. It was a beautiful ceremony. The eulogy was incredible. It was so nice to hear all about Charles and his life. Listening to all the various occupations and high achievements as well as the personal and family stories, all I could think was, there wouldn’t have been a church big enough if the funeral was in Ireland. Rest in Peace after a life well lived.
Clare, I am so very sorry for your loss.

Deepest condolences on the passing of Charlie. He was a great colleague and friend. He was a truly great raconteur and I miss very much the mountain walks in Wicklow for a chat before retiring to Enniskerry for a coffee. May he rest in peace.
I have known Charley all of my life. We both lived on Fr. Matthew Road as children. I kept in touch with him as an adult as we both ended up living in Wicklow - small world! Charley got some contract work in UCD, but he always worried because he didn't have either a Master's degree or a Ph.D. I told him not to worry about it but it always stressed him out. Now you can finally stop worrying Charlie that you are not good enough. Onwards and upwards Charley!
