As a recent new member of the ROMEOs, I reconnected with Charlie, a former colleague in 34 College Green, whom I remember with great affection from the time we worked together in the late 60s and early 70s. I was delighted to get to know him over again during the last few years… what a lovely guy he was, with a mischievous grin and friendly personality. He was so easy to like and will be greatly missed. To his wife Rosaleen, his children and his extended family I send my sincere condolences. Having recently been bereaved I know the pain and grief you are suffering.

We’ve just heard the very sad new of Charlie’s passing. As many others have said, we recall the happy times working together with Charlie in BOI Cabinteely over many years.

I am so dreadfully sad and shocked at Charlies untimely death. My heart goes out to his beloved Rose, Faye and Ian.
Charlie was a founder member of our National Bank travelling lunch group ROMEO < Retired Old Men Eating Out >.He was a truly great storyteller and had a wonderful turn of phrase, embellished by his inimitable chuckle.
I am privileged to have had Charlie as a colleague and friend since the sixties, when we were all "mere youths ".
"Mackie Boy" will miss you Charlie. As surely will all those whose lives you touched. R. I. P.

I worked beside Charlie in Cabinteely in early 90’s. He truely was a great guy with a marvellous sense of humour, we had some great laughs together. He was a gentleman highly regarded by staff and colleagues. We will all miss him. May he rest in peace.

I well remember our attendance at the Bank of Ireland pre-retirement course way back in 2001. Charlie was always great company. He possessed wonderful wit and frequently entertained with his incisive repartee.

Charlie was such a lovely man with a great sense of humour and the generous knack of making everyone feel their relationship with him was special, through small simple things such as the variety of nick names he gave to those who had the pleasure of working with him. Like so many, I am glad to have been one of them. My condolonces to Rosaleen Faye and Ian, as well as to Charlies close and long term friends who will miss him dearly.
