The Blessington road will be a less colourful place now with the passing of Charlie.
For those of us that grew up and lived close by the familiar sight of the red 135 complete with transport box moving along at a leisurely pace became part of our everyday life. Every now and then i would pull in and have a quick chat with him maybe sharing some local news or just to comment on the weather and if i was in a bit of a rush
i would just beep the horn always to be met with a kind smile and a friendly wave.
We all live in a rushed World now where people have less time for each other so when you drive Charlie's stretch and you meet someone you know don't forget to wave and smile and remember Charlie in your thoughts.

I often stood outside my house, a cup of tea in hand and looked over as you traced your way up the hill in your Massey Ferguson 135. I'd think to myself ... that man has it sorted. To me you were a Millionaire and you tractor was your Rolls Royce. To me you seemed a man at peace with the world and at one with nature, unscathed by the complexity and chaos of modern life ... but you were much more than that. You were a friendly face, a waving hand, an occasional neighbourly chat and most of all, a messenger ... telling us all to slow down, embrace the beauty of our surroundings, show respect to nature and our animals and be gentle, quiet and friendly.

Thank you Charlie, you'll be greatly missed. Rest in Peace
