I got to know Charlie really well when he worked as a Cork Harbour Pilot, I was his Transport (Taxi) Driver and he was always a pleasure to be in his company. Charlie had a huge heart and an even bigger sense of humour and the day he piloted his final ship to the City Quays, he gave me great advice, "live your best life".
May Charlie's gentle soul rest in peace, now reunited with his loving parents and may his memory and good times live on in all of us forever.

"Cork Harbour Radio Transport, Pilot Ellis now safely landed and heading home".

As one of the ‘terrible twins’ (as Nibbs called us) we spent our youth competing with each other. We were in the choir, Fletcher’s Trolly and even typing class! Both Joined Shell and went to sea. We battled over who would be captain of Uncles Brian’s punt. So much of my youth was wrapped up in yours. I will miss not having you around Chas.
