My heartfelt condolences to all the McConnell family. Remembering Hedley brings nothing but smiles. His wonderful, creative, left-field sense of humour, and infectious laughter. I loved that he always called me Dixie - a nickname earned in Kipper House, Kinsale, in 1978. Hedley was a one-off. I’m so sad.

I remember getting to know Hedley (as we called him) during rehearsals for “Canaries” in Carrick-on-Suir and quickly establishing we were both from a sailing background. He started to tell me the family story of his Mom, left on deck alone in Dublin Bay while Dad and a friend were in the cabin pointing the compass. She let out a scream and said she had seen a Seagull committing suicide………it turned out to be a Gannett!
I stopped him and told him that was my family story too!
Turns out the “friend” that day was my Dad, Kevin O Regan.
Two strangers in an inland pub with not even one degree of separation between them.
I will miss you my friend.

Please accept our condolences for your sad loss: we are so sorry that Hedley has been taken from you so suddenly by this cruel disease. We all remember him with great affection, often using a ‘Hedleyism’ to describe something only he would have had the right pithy phrase for – his legacy lives on!

You are all in our hearts and thoughts as you each come to terms with your loss in your own time and in your own way. With much love to you all.

Heartfelt condolences to the McConnell family from Brewery Lane Theatre, Carrick-on-Suir on the passing of our dear friend Hedley. Hedley was a cast member of six of our productions in the 1980s. A talented actor, photographer, and a brilliant conversationalist. Hedley was a popular resident of Carrick and district during his sojourn among us. We will always remember him with affection. Hedleys spirit humour and courage enriched us all we will miss the thought of seeing him again.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Hedley. A great friend of our family in Tenerife for many years. RIP.

To all the McConnell family and extended family. I learn with great sadness of Hedley's death. The fun we shared in our youth has been kept alive by following on Facebook and timely reunions. Hedley's was a fascinating alternative thinker and an amazing personality. The one thing he evoked in everyone was affection. I think of you all at this time and wish you well.
When the grieving eases remember the world, and all of us who crossed paths with Hedley's, are so much better for his being. So much to be grateful for.
