Sincere condolences to Chucks wife and family, we have only just heard about the sad loss. Chuck was always kind and encouraging to his APSO recruits. I remember his positive attitude and his warm, easy personality. May he rest in peace.
My sincere condolences to Mary and family. Chuck was such a lovely, kind, gentle man. It was always so nice to have wee chats with ye both coming and going in Berehaven. May he rest in peace
Dear Mary and family. Sincere condolences on the recent loss of dear Chuck. Sadly I couldn't be with you for his funeral, as his dear friend Kevin was getting ready to be with him. I met Chuck many decades ago at a training with APSO. When I later met him as Kevin's colleague in DFA I remembered his beautiful smiling eyes and gentle nature. As you well know Chuck and Kevin developed a close bond of deep friendship which they shared to the sad end of their lives. Kevin admired Chuck's deep faith, his spiritual connection with people and nature. I was very privileged to get to know Chuck in his retirement and sadly in his illness. He bore his health challenges with dignity and never complained. His love for his family was evident and the most cherished part of his life. Mary thinking of you in your sad loss and grief. Maggie Carroll and family
My condolences on the death of Chuck, I remember him from APSO / Irish Aid and NGO world and his gentle wisdom. RIP

Mary, Cathal, Orla and Michael, I'm so sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. I have known Chuck for nearly 30 years, a great guy, a nice and gentle man full of compassion and with a passion for justice. We traveled in Central America together on a number of occasions and there are many good stories from our time both in APSO and DFAT. My most heart felt condolences to you all at this very sad time.
We have just heard the sad news about Chuck's death and wish to give our sincerest sympathy to Mary, Cathal, Orla and Michael and the wider family. Chuck was an inspiring man and missionary and we were privileged to have known himself and Mary. We were together in the early IMU days, when they broke new ground as lay members of the Mission promotion team. Chuck went on to serve in APSO and later in DFA and truly made a difference in his lifetime of loving service. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. ❤️🙏
Very sorry to have learnt about Chuck’s passing. His name was very familiar to me from his APSO days long before I met him in person after they merged with Irish Aid.
He turned out to be a real gentleman to work with, his conversation was always interesting and I can recall many of his insightful, humorous little anecdotes.
His poem “In Search of a Round Table” evidently struck a chord with many people and it seemed to reflect the principles he lived his life by.
Go well Chuck
My condolences to his family

Dear Mary, Cathal, Michael, Orla and extended family, my sincere condolences to you all at the sad news of Chuck passing.
One of the joys I looked forward to each year on my annual trips home to Berehaven was seeing Chuck’s smile and spending time in his company. Our shared love of books and newspapers, his poetry, his delight in seeing the Peet’s coffee and See’s bags from SF, listening to his words of wisdom and great stories, I shall miss him and all of these dearly.
Chuck, a gentle soul, a real gentleman, a humanitarian… those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. May you rest in peace Chuck.

Chuck was a wonderful colleague when I worked with him in APSO from 1994 - 2003 and Irish Aid subsequently. He was a very kind, warm-hearted, considerate and genuinely humorous person with a real talent for poetry, as well as a huge commitment to international development and social justice. He was a professional to his fingertips and an inspiration to many of us who knew him. Though he will be greatly missed, he will be very fondly remembered for years to come. May he Rest In Peace.

Heartfelt sympathies to you Mary and to Chuck’s children. Since hearing the sad news of Chuck’s death, I have been thinking back on knowing him over the years from IMU to APSO to DFA.
