My deepest condolences to Pauline, Maria, Bernie and all the family on the passing of Charles.
We have such lovely memories from growing up—waiting for Charles to come down the road with the tractor so we could get a spin over to the quay. My granny, Bridget O’Malley, would sometimes say, “We’re walking over today,” and we’d tell Charles, “Granny’s making us walk!” But somehow, he always knew what time she’d be heading and would be there waiting with the tractor. I think Granny knew too—but she never said a word.

Charles was such a good-hearted man, always full of jokes and kindness. To me, he was like a second dad growing up, and I’ll always treasure those memories.

You gave him a beautiful send-off, and I’m truly sorry I couldn’t be there with you.

May he rest in peace. Charles will always be watching over you all.
