I am shocked to learn of the passing of Charles just this-afternoon. I consider him to be my great mobility benefactor though when I bought my tricycle from the charity shop a couple of years ago I had never met him. But he flagged me down a couple of days later on the Main Street, introduced himself and told me the story of the trike. He had bought it following an accident with an electric scooter. It was stable and steady, he said, but when he tried it out on Iceland carpark, he pedalled steadily, turned the handlebars one way, and promptly fell off the other. So it went straight to the charity shop. Ever since then we would always stop for a quick chat if we passed in town. He was always friendly, amusing and interested, but though I have racked up countless miles around town I could never recount any real tricycling adventures . May Charles rest in peace. Extremely sad to hear of Charles’s passing. This gent brought so much laughter and a carefree attitude, to not only myself, but a wide circle of friends in midleton. Many an evening we would share a creamy pint in coppingers, and set the world straight.
