Marvelous Charlie Lennon,
A musician wonderful & fine,
He played beautiful music,
Each note shining like a ray of sunshine;
A native of Kiltyclogher, Co Leitrim,
That wonderful place,
His wonderful music,
Brought joy to many a face.

With his brother Ben,
A fabulous musical pair,
Their foot-tapping music,
Would remove many a care;
He's been recorded many times,
LP's, CD's and cassette,
One of the nicest people,
To have ever met.

My Mum was from Liminish in Leitrim,
A place very near Fenagh,
Just like her, his spirit will shine,
Like the brightess star;
My grandad Paddy, also played the fiddle,
The joy of Irish music was passed on to me,
And hearing Charlie with his Leitrim roots,
Filled my heart with happiness, joy & glee.

Condolences to his friends & family,
Physically there apart,
But the beauty of his music & personality,
Will shine in theirs & many a heart;
He's now with the Divine,
Still radiating peace & sunshine,
With lovely God,
Still making our life journeys easier & fine.

We are so sorry to hear of Charlie's passing and our sympathies and prayers are with you all at this time. I have a happy memory of my dad and Charlie sitting in a corner of a pub, completely engrossed in their own conversation, oblivious to the chatter around them. Charlie's touched the hearts of so many people. May he rest in peace.

Sincerest sympathy to the Lennon Family, I stayed in Charlie Lennon's house a few years back and found him to be a kind,gentle sincere man. He treated us on a number of occasions with impromptu private solo concerts ( piano/fiddle) which was a real treat. Musically he has contributed so much to the tradition and knowing that his compositions will live on for generations to come is comforting. When i heard charlie passed I came accross an episode of the rolling wave (eps 60) where charlie talks about his life journey with family, work, and of course his music.Inspiring to say the least.

The passing of Charlie Lennon is a sad day for Sila, Sean, Donal Eilis and all his immediate family, but also for the wider community of traditional Irish music.
A man of many talents all of which he mastered, nurtured and greatly enhanced for many generations to come. He has left us a glorious new world of beautiful tunes that will last forever.

Sincere sympathy to Síle, Seán, Éilís and Dónal and the extended Lennon family including his Leitrim relatives on the death of Charlie. Ann and I have lost a life-long friend and his passing leaves a vast void. Despite his exception musical gifts, he was a humble and modest man. Over the years we played a lot of music but he always had time for a laugh. Himself and Ben were icons of our tradition and no Fleadh was complete without meeting and playing with them. Charlie was a noble ambassador of our tradition and carried this with dignity and remarkable taste. He leaves a remarkable legacy in Irish music worldwide.

I worked with Cathal (not Charlie) for a few years in what is now known as KPMG. I knew him as a very good management consultant but the only inkling I had about any musical talent was that he was great craic at office parties and could play any old song in any key.
Now that I know the extent of his musical talent I feel he must also have been the humblest person on earth.
My sympathy to Sile and Eilish whom I have met and to all Cathal’s family. May he rest in peace.

Charlie was such a ray of light in the musical world. I feel so lucky to have collaborated with him and lovely Éilís on his CD recording years ago at the beautiful studio in Spiddal...I felt honoured to play his 'Glaoch - Sonata for Violin and Piano' with Finghin Collins recording Charlie's beautiful, heartfelt composition. Farewell Charlie - fond memories of Spiddal in the '70s

So sad to hear of Charlie's passing. Together with Ben and their musical children, they brought a rare richness to traditional music for many years. A night with the Lennons was always something to be treasured. We will remember them through their music in the years to come.

Deepest condolences to Síle and all the Lennon family. I was very lucky to have crossed paths with Charlie- first, as a young budding musician when with the Liverpool Céili Band he would let me play the piano and he’d play fiddle. Later, his piano playing on the Banks of the Shannon with Paddy O’Brien and Séamus was a defining moment for me as a piano accompanist. Solas na bhFlaitheas ar a anam.
