Charlie Shalvey

Deepest sympathies to Margie, Colm, Nicola and Laura, his grandchildren Dáire, Donncha & Conor and his sons-in-law on Charles’s passing. Also to his sisters Ena, Margaret and Brenda & their families.

Charles was thoughtful and kind, a fine father and grandfather, and a great role model He was knowledgeable about many things and was helpful and considerate to many both in his professional and personal lives. On a personal note, Kathleen extends special condolences to Margie: their paths crossed in the late 60s in Monaghan.

Charles and I were the eldest of the Shalvey/McCabe first cousins - now a pool of 10 following the untimely passings of Charles, Michael and my brother Felix - so his loss is particularly poignant. As the elder of the two, I have fond memories of his arrival into this world and of my many visits to the Shalvey home in Dernakesh as the five siblings grew up.
