Dear Desie, so very sorry to hear of the loss of your dear son Chris.
May he rest in peace.
— Kourosh Foroughi and family
I'm deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Chris's passing.

I met Chris in college and we kept in touch intermittently down the years. I've many great memories of Chris - from college, Dublin; a weekend we spent in Drogheda and also when he kindly met up with my wife and I in New York and showed us around, back in 2005.

Chris was a special person - interesting, creative and caring and we offer our condolences to his family and friends.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
— Patrick Kilmartin
It’s been very many years since I’d seen Chris, but his character and smile are difficult to forget, especially sharing so many friends over the years. My deepest condolences to his Irish and American family and friends. May he Rest In Peace.
— Jeanie Reyes
My deepest sympathy to all the Gough family at such a sad time in life. Having known Pete’s for a long time, I got to know Chris in later years. I was immediately drawn to his great sense of humor, a dry wit that would always make you smile and a guy who loved a night out with the gang. I learned later there was so much more to him than that sound lad as he battled so bravely for years for his kids and family. He’s an inspiration. I will always have fond memories of Chris and he will be sorely missed. A man his family should be hugely proud of. R.I.P.
— Ian McManus

I met Chris in 1999 when I wandered into Mona's for the first time late one afternoon to meet a friend and regale her with stories of my recent trip to Ireland. After that Mona's became my regular haunt and Chris a regular part of my early to mid 20s, though he did proceed to card me every time he saw me for the first 6 months I knew him! A time I always think of is when there was a blackout in NYC one steamy August afternoon and we had all found our way at Mona's to have warmish pints by candlelight. Prepared to walk the dark streets alone back to Brooklyn, I was heading out into the night when Chris stopped me and insisted I join a collection of Brooklyn dwellers he had decided he would see home safely. It was not convenient for him by any stretch but he made sure all 5 of us got over the bridge and through the entrances of our respective apartment buildings safely, scattered across the Williamsburg/East Williamsburg and Greenpoint as we were. He balked at the thank you's he was given, as if it was not even a question that he would do this for the people he knew. Instead he made a few jokes and carried on. That's how I shall remember him - witty, not super comfortable with praise and quietly looking after those he cared for.

Honour smarts passion love and a helluva lot of fight are just a few of his traits. But Chris was so much more than a few words. Smiles laughs and incredible acts of kindness and caring. He’ll be sorely missed but never forgotten. Never.
