I was shocked to hear of Chris’s passing. I was his consultant when he was a trainee in Neurology in St James’s in about 2005/6. I lost touch with him but about a decade later came across him in Practice in the US when I was referring a a patient to his Neurosurgical centre there. He was a very singular mind and I remember we published a letter in the Irish Medical journal during his short time with me. I had no doubt that he would go far in his chosen field. I met him for the last time in the summer of 2024 at a conference in Trinity and we had a nice time catching up on his career and l learned about his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
We are saddened to hear of Dr Dardis' passing. I was searching for him after being in need of his services again. My Leah was his patient at St Joe's Barrows from 2015, until he moved to Oregon. She was a childhood survivor. 25 years later we needed answers with what was going on with her. Dr Dardis was the most caring, and intelligent doctor we have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. He had the most insight, and shed the most light on her condition; that no other could. We have seen the best doctors in AZ; yet none had the understanding and compassion that he did. He has been irreplaceable...and fear he will remain so. He has left some very big shoes to fill, and a hole in our hearts for him. He has done more for us than any other, and will always be remembered...
I know Chris through Regina, and have some lovely memories of visiting his family home in Leeson Park, and of his mum Mary, and his stories and adventures which Regina had shared with me down through the years. I remember my conversations with Chris, his intelligence and sensitivity, and the love he had for his children and nature. The last time I met Chris was with Regina in Lisbon. We met under the Christmas tree in Praça do Comércio and proceeded to dinner in a stately but almost empty dining room, where we were served like kings and queens, and then on to a jazz club, and we talked and laughed and had a wonderful night. My deepest sympathies to his sons, Chris and James, Talia, Regina and all the Regan and Dardis family. May he rest in peace.
I have good memories of Chris talking about caring for the environment 20 years ago, with a passion and foresight ahead of his time. Sincere condolences to his family. RIP

I was in college with Chris and have many fond memories of him. He was always an interesting guy and conversations with him were always stimulating. He was a true intellectual with an immense curiosity about the world and a truly eclectic range of interests. His love of music was obvious to all who knew him and his knowledge of music was truly encyclopaedic. He was generous also, on few occasions in our conversations about music, if I expressed an interest in a particular artist or band, he would bring in CDs for me to borrow, completely unprompted. It was a privilege to catch up with him again at our reunion last year. I was lucky to have a long conversation with him that evening. Little did I know it would be my last conversation with him. My deepest condolences to his family. RIP
My deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones whose lives have been touched by Christopher in many forms! May your soul rest in peace and comfort of almighty! You had been such a lovely and kind to an unknown like me. You helped me immensely and I had a chance to have a nice chat about almost everything! Chris, a kind hearted soul, you will be missed immensely by everyone. My deepest empathy with the beloved family and kids! May you find love, rest and peace!!
Chris was our classmate in medical school but also a dear friend. A gentle communicator but with a heart of steel when it came to caring & doing what was right & beneficial for his patients while in the USA. Likewise, also in his friendships/relationships. He was unashamed & capable of deep conversations which was very much enjoyed & appreciated always. He loved his family. He is very dearly & sadly missed. May our Heavenly Father bring deep comfort, wisdom, & peace to & strengthen all of our hearts and especially his beloved 2 sons Chris & James, Talia, Regina, aunts, uncles, & all his extended family & friends, Amen.
Our deepest sympathy to Chris’s family and the Regan family on the untimely death of Chris,
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
Our sincere sympathies to the Dardis family on the the passing of Christopher.
I was so saddened to hear of Christopher’s passing. We first met as children, attending pre-school at Ardtona House School, and junior & senior school together at St. Mary’s College C.S.Sp. Even back then, it was clear he was something special; his natural intelligence, curiosity, and passion for learning stood out to everyone who knew him.

I remember when we were about 11, he asked me to draw a caricature of him. I titled it ‘The Brain Surgeon’, not knowing how prophetic that would be. He was thrilled by it and, years later, told me he’d kept the drawing — which made perfect sense when he went on to become a neurosurgeon. That curiosity, brilliance, and humour stayed with him throughout his life.

My thoughts are with his two sons, Talia, and all his family at this time. I hope they take comfort in knowing how deeply admired and loved he was. Chris lived life with curiosity, kindness, and enthusiasm; qualities that made him unforgettable to all who knew him.

With heartfelt sympathy,

I knew Chris through hiking (I remember him doing the Cummeengeera Horseshoe in Beara almost on his hands & knees), wild camping in the West of Ireland,
occasionally sailing (despite his aversion to cold water) and his superb photography, watching Leinster Rugby at the Aviva with Regina & Cathal, and staying in Cahermore.
He was a kind and generous spirit and will be sadly missed after his untimely passing.
My condolences to all the family.
Heartfelt condolences to Christopher’s sons, their mother, and to the extended Regan and Dardis families on your sad and sudden loss. It was a great shock to hear of his untimely passing. I met him on a hike with Regina and some friends, and he amused us all by spending the walk searching for underground streams with divining sticks. It was a pleasure to spend time in his company. May he rest in peace.
I was shocked to hear of such a sudden loss. My most heartfelt condolences to Chris and James, Talia, Regina and all the Regan and Dardis family.

I met Chris a few days before he died. He was happy and looking forward to his trip to Paraguay. I can’t really believe he is gone.

We were friends as children, he insisted on being called Christopher back then. He was obsessed with fantasy adventure stories and had a huge collection of Fighting Fantasy choose your own adventure gamebooks. He even created his own text based rpg adventure game on his parents PC!

We drifted apart as teenagers but reconnected properly a few years ago when he returned to Ireland. We bonded again, this time over photography, outdoor walks and more recently we discovered modern board games. He was a vast fountain of knowledge and if he didn’t know about something, he was interested in finding out about it.

The Chris I knew was open, generous, fiercely independent and adventurous.

May the memories of the good times you shared bring comfort to you in your time of great sadness.

I will miss you Christopher. RIP
My sincere condolences to all of Christopher’s family on their sad loss. I remember him well from his student days in St. Mary’s college. May he rest in peace.
Chris was a very gentle and intelligent person. I had the opportunity to spent some time with him while tidying up his new house, specially the books and putting up the pictures on the wall. He seemed really happy in the new place, he did all thinking about his kids when coming to visit him. He used to talk a lot about them and I could see he missed been close to them.
Last time I saw him was about a month ago when we had a pleasant dinner in his house with Regina and another friend. I always felt comfortable around him. He would be missed and I'll have him in my memories.

I had the pleasure of meeting Chris through hiking with Regina, and ran into them both just last week. It is so hard to believe that Chris will no longer arrive just in time in the white van for another wild camping adventure. Thank you Chris for your company, the interesting chats and your alternative way of looking at the world. I will remember the interesting conversations, and also the care you took to make sure you talked to your sons regularly and how you looked forward to meeting them on their trips to this side of the world. Many condolences to them, to your aunts and uncles, your wider family and friends. Rest in peace Chris.

It was a true pleasure to reconnect with Chris at our reunion last year—his warmth and sharp wit were as memorable as ever. He had that rare gift of making you laugh (especially around subjects such as music and mixes) and think in the same breath. I’ll always remember his subtle humour and the clever observations that followed. Deepest condolences to his family and all who loved him. May he rest in peace.
Thank you Chris for all your kind and thoughtful gestures during our friendship. Years would go by without seeing you when suddenly a gift or a new mixtape or record would appear in my postbox with a note to let me know I had popped into your head. I really enjoyed hanging out with you in Dublin since you came back from the US and our bookclub won't be the same without your sharp observations and wit. I'll never forget our adventures on the turntables together during our student DJ championship days; safe travels dude.

I was in college with Chris and remember him as such a lovely, genuine person. It was a pleasure to meet up with him and many of our classmates at our reunion last year. He spoke with such warmth, love, and pride about his sons. He will be deeply missed.
We were deeply saddened to hear of Christopher’s passing. We met him through our friend and his aunt, Regina. What struck us most about Christopher was his uniqueness. He certainly wasn’t a run-of-the-mill person. His intelligence, combined with an intense curiosity, whether it concerned world events or esoteric issues, was palpable. In our often tumultuous world, it was refreshing to meet such a gentle soul. Praying for his family and children at this difficult time.
Sincere sympathy to the Dardis and Regan family on loss of Christopher.
