Dear Ms. Nolan,

I was recently in the hospital and a volunteer with books upon a cart came up to me and asked if I'd like one. I chose Under the Eye of The Clock. Tonight I was able to read it. Immediately I got on and googled your son's name, to find that he had passed in the month of my birth. Thank you for your example as a mother. Your son's book has been so beautiful to read and I have felt such a comfort from it and connection. So... know that a stranger came to feel a friend simply through words. I look forward to meeting him some day.
I met Christy through my friends the Smith's from Williamstown, Mass. USA. While it has been several years since I met Christy, his sister Yvonne and his parents, I have thought of him often and will continue to be inspired by him.
Joe, Bernadette & Yvonne,

I was sorry to hear about your recent bereavement.

I once had an interest in Christopher back in 1988, when I was about 14 years old. I first bought 'Under The Eye Of The Clock' in The Bookshop, Nenagh in October that year and later purchased 'Dam Burst Of Dreams'.

I never read his novel, 'The Banyan Tree', which was sold out some years ago. I also collected newspaper cuttings of him.

I extend my deepest sympathy to you.
I was very saddened to hear the news about Christy. I was about two years behind him in school at Mount Temple. He was always a valuable reminder during those teenage years of how much so many of us often take for granted; how hard some people have to work to achieve a level playing field; and how some people can make an amazing difference through their determination and support.

Condolences to all the family.
