Having been out of the country when Christie died I have just recently heard the sad news.
My condolences to his sister Myra, his nieces and nephews and all his extended family.

It was with great sadness that I heard of Christy’s passing, one of life’s gentlemen, I could always turn to Christy for help and advice when things where not going so well, he was very well liked and respected in Dublin port, he was always game for a laugh, even though I hadn’t seen him for a number of years he was always in my thoughts. It is with great sadness that I heard Christy has passed away. I have great memories of him when I became an apprentice Shipwright in Dublin Port in 1974. Used to have great craic with Christy when he drove the Lighthouse Launch bringing me out in to Dublin Bay to carry out repairs to the navigation buoys and the Bull lighthouse, we used to catch conger eels and mackerel on the good weather days. He was always up for a good slagging and had a great sense of humour. Sorry to hear he is now gone, rest in peace Christy.
