To all the Furlong family, we were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Cian’s passing. Cian was a much loved guitar teacher to our four children, who came to our home every Thursday afternoon for the past five years. He was a talented teacher as much as a musician, always gentle and patient. He was a cool teacher in our children’s eyes, who made music fun. Lately, Cian and our eldest had begun jamming during their lessons, which he was thrilled about. Our sincere condolences on this terrible loss.

Cian taught my son guitar and my daughter piano. He was such a gentle soul, and my son and he got on so well. I could always hear laughing and chatting interspersed with the music coming from the kitchen. He was such a gentleman and always so kind. We were shocked to hear that Cian died and we will miss his presence so much. I’m so sorry for you all his family and friends. Thinking of you all.

I have happy childhood memories playing with Cian in the back garden of Templeogue and along the banks of the Dodder behind the house. In and out of the garden hut running after each other. And fond memories of playing in the rock pools of Balbriggan when the tide was low. Rest in peace and may your spirit live on in those you met.

We loved when Cian visited. We have very happy memories of his last visit when Irene, Cian and Scamall went paddling. Cian was in great form at the meal in the garden afterwards. It was beautiful to see how Scamall and he related. Our hearts are with you all at this sad time.

Deeply shocked and saddened to find that Cian has passed on. Sincere sympathies and our thoughts with all the Furlong family. Cian taught my young son Patrick guitar lessons at home. I loved hearing the sounds of music and laughing coming from the kitchen during the lessons (from both of them). To us Cian was a gentle, kind and intelligent man with great musical talent and quiet but comfortable manner. We are so upset for you on this great loss for your family. Patrick has said that he reckons Cian has gone to teach guitar lessons now in the sky and no Seven Nation Army is going to hold him back.

He also had a special talent of seeing qualities in others that were often overlooked, and gave people encouragement to develop their natural gifts.
