Cissie was a remarkable person and a great life long friend to my parents. What a great age to have lived to, she was warm, always friendly had a great laugh and sense of style.
I have so many happy memories of growing up in London, of Cissie and John Patrick living in Deptford and then in Downham near Bromley.
My parents would meet up with them every Sunday for drinks and there was always a Boxing Day Party.
We would often coincide our annual Summer holiday and many a happy evening was spent in the local towns.
My parents moved back to Ireland in 1986 followed a few years later by Cissie who was then unfortunately widowed. She set up a lovely home in Longford and spent a lot of time tending her garden which was always immaculate.
I remember some lovey meals - she would always buy best quality foodstuff and was a wonderful cook.
When my mother died in 1988 she was a tremendous support to my father and was a companion. A true lifetime friend. She had an active social life and loved people.
Sadly I didn’t see her in recent years -it is hard to believe you are gone.
My condolences to Mary, Patrick, Ann and extended family.
I hope you will be reconciled with your own happy memories.
