It’s taken over a month to be able to write anything. Claire’s absence is felt in every aspect of life, as we knew it would be.

I miss her every day.

My heart aches for the Burke family. Their strength and bravery is reminiscent of Claire’s own resilience and courage. The world was blessed to have had an angel on Earth, for too short a time and we were blessed to love and be loved by her. She lives on in her children who are a credit to both PJ and Claire.

May she rest in eternal peace.

I was so sad to hear your beautiful Claire has died. My sympathies to you all. Claire was a wonderful friend and a terrific neighbour to us all in Kilkerley. Such a warm and friendly home. Quietly helping people and giving support with no fuss. A wonderful lady.

How sad I was when I heard that Claire had passed .We go back along way .. to Convent of Mercy .. sitting beside each other for Leaving Cert .. to Isle of Man .. Summer job .. to having our first babiy boys on the same day in Our Lady of Lourdes , Drogheda. . Claire was my dear dear friend ..We always promised to stay in touch and we did. I miss her so much but am thankful she is not in pain . To PJ , Michael , Rosemarie and Blathnaid .. I send my condolences . Words can’t describe my sadness for you.

We were shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Claire.

I was lucky enough to cross paths with Claire on a few occasions in recent years - and, on each occasion, she was unfailingly warm, kind, generous, and so funny. It was easy to see that she made everyone around her feel special and loved, and also easy to see how much she loved her beautiful family. She will be so missed. Claire was the kindest, warmest and most vivacious person we knew with a heart so big we're not sure how it fit in her chest. She welcomed everyone in to her home and her heart, often with an endearing jeer and a cuppa.

Words feel futile and insignificant to try to describe Claire but we see every part of her nature and talent in PJ, Mikey, Rosie and Bláth. She was so incredibly proud of all of them - as are we. Their strength and composure over the last week is phenomenal and a testament to Claire herself.

We are so lucky to have known Claire and shared such special times together. We have gained an angel. We will miss her so much x

Claires passing has rekindled some wonderful memories of times shared during our days in UCG and it has always been a joy to meet her in the intervening years. Her warm, genuinely friendly and charismatic nature along with her sense of fun will always stay with me.
