To my Fitzmaurice Family
Saying I’m heartbroken broken for your loss doesn’t come close to how I’m feeling. I wish I was there just to give you a hug, lend an ear or a shoulder to cry on. Mum, yes I am her other son, taught me an important lesson, without saying anything but just by her actions. The lesson: treat people with kindness, respect and love irrespective of their race, religion or affiliations they may have. She was a warm, gentle and loving person with a great sense of humor but a stern voice when needed. I spent one of the most incredible years of my life with all of you and mum made me feel welcomed and at home during a time when I could easily have felt alone. She allowed me to enter your home and be part of the family with no limitations. To this day I’m extremely grateful and will never ever forget the part she played in shaping me. There will always be a special place for the Fitzmaurice family in my heart but more especially for mum.
My condolences and love to all the family. May God grant you patience during this difficult time.

Claire was a 'one off'. A strong character with often unique views but always expressed with humour and a twinkle in the eye.
Greg Snr. and Claire were a great partnership and and I have lots of memories of warm and witty banter in Blenheim House.

I am so sorry to hear Claire has left us. The world won't be the same without her. She brought so much fun everywhere she went and to whoever she met along the way.
I have great memories of her daily visits to me with treats while I had my knee replaced.
I got bigger, she got smaller because she insisted on me eating them all!
She will be hugely missed.

I am so sad to hear this. Years ago in 1964, I was a Macra/4-H exchange delegate to Ireland and spent three weeks at Portersize with Claire and family. I loved my time there and I'll always treasure my friendship with Claire. May she rest in peace. Claire was my PE teacher in the Presentation school and Greg my commerce teacher there also.
As students we knew that there was romance in the air and marriage followed on.
Also memories of her and Greg in the Toymaster shop in Barronstrand St.
I subsequently met her on a number of occasions down the years and we had great chats.
May her gentle soul rest in peace with Greg.

The first day I called to Blenheim House and was greeted by Claire, I knew I had fallen on my feet because it felt like home from home. I have great memories of sitting with Claire and Greg around the kitchen table having the craic and eating Claire’s lovely apple tarts.

Condolences to Claire's immediate & extended Families.

I very well remember Claire , known to US pupils as
"Miss Doody" in Secondary school .

"Miss Doody" was our PE Teacher .
She drove her 2 seater yellow sports car from one part of d school grounds to the other

Then , romance bloosemed with Mr Fitzmaurice ( Greg) a commenced teacher, & Miss Doody ( Claire) -- initially met in d school.

All ears & eyes were on them !!

Now , 55 yrs later , May Claire rest peacefully with Greg in Ballyduff cemetery.
