Claire Maguire

I was shocked to hear of the untimely passing of Claire. I was at Maynooth with Claire (1984-1987) and have very fond memories of our time together. Fast forward many years and I met Paul in Philadephia where I now live. What are the chances that you would meet the sibling of a friend from college in the US? Small world for sure. My sincere condolences to Paul and the entire family. Claire was one of the best! May she Rest in Peace. Amen

Deepest sympathy to Claire’s family. I met Claire in CBC Monkstown. She was a very fine teacher, totally committed to her students.

Claire was my teacher for 6 years in CBC and I can very honestly and definitively say I would not have gotten into college or to where I am today without her direct input and support. May she rest in peace knowing she helped many young people achieve the unachievable.

We were members of the Irish society and both took part in many Irish plays. Claire was always great company and good fun and I have many memories of happy days in Claire's company. Claire was a much-loved member of Square One for many years, She served on the committee in various roles and acted and directed with Square One as well. On a personal level, she was kind and helpful and had an incredibly good heart. Anyone who spent time with Claire was aware of her generous nature. With her tall striking, appearance, and larger-than-life personality, everyone who met Claire would have to agree she was unforgettable! She will be missed a lot....

Just heard of the untimely passing of Claire. I really cannot believe that it has happened. On behalf of myself, Kevin and Stephen (especially including mum and dad), our heartfelt condolence.

The Maguires and Carroll's go back many a year and the interaction was always full of fun led ably by Ronan and Donal up to no good.

Many visits were made to Galway and Newbridge, but one comes to mind. After a suitable amount of time, the "kids" were banished/released from captivity and allowed to go and find their own entertainment. This was conducted out in on the hall stairs and landing during the dead of winter! The proceedings lead by Claire. Born to be a Teacher even back then.

Reading the many messages of condolences, the common thread left by many was compassion, commitment to the education of the youth, Claires love of drama and RUGS?, and of course her siblings, in-laws (or even out-laws!), nieces and nephews.

So shocked to hear of Claire’s passing. I have fond memories of her in Rugs and always willing to share her thoughts and suggestions and very generous with offering lifts to anyone that needed on a night out .

We wish to express our deepest and sincerest condolences over the very sad and unexpected news about Claire’s passing. We had the pleasure of playing in the Rathfarnham Ukulele Group up to a point, and she was a joy to play and spend quality time with.

I also had the side and personal privilege of coincidentally bumping in and walking into the Bob Dylan and Neil Young co-headline concert at Nowlan Park in the summer of 2019 and despite us both standing in the scorching summer Kilkenny heat for up to an hour, as the saying goes, a long wait was made shorter by good company.
