So very sorry to hear of Claire’s passing. We have only just received the news and, as I write this, I’m still in shock. To us, Claire was a relatively recent acquaintance — we hadn’t known her from Dalkey, and our paths first crossed when she moved in just a few doors down. It wasn’t long, though, before our new neighbour became a close family friend. She would regularly pop by for a chat, always with a smile — and often with a treat or two in her pocket for our boys. She was a fabulous lady, and we will miss her dearly. Our thoughts are with Tom, her children, her family, and her wide circle of friends at this time.

I really looked up to Claire all my life, she was truly stunning, stylish, elegant and full of character, with a presence you didn’t forget. She was like a movie star. She was not only an artist, she was a work of art in herself - a true original, a masterpiece.

Resting in Glasthule on Bloomsday - a day that brings creativity and beauty to the world, is exactly what she represented.

The name Claire means “bright” and “clear”and she reflected that with her pure, ever lasting, shining light.

Sending my sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to all her family, her daughter Sophie, sons Paddy and Joe and all her loving friends.

I was really shocked to hear that Claire had died. I remember Claire from school where she was a bright and bubbly girl with an amazing talent for art. My heartfelt sympathy to all the family at this very sad time.

Very sad to hear of Claire's sudden departure from this world, a world she loved and definitely enjoyed, with a joke, a laugh and a good story. She was a people person...When Claire was about 21 she needed a few bob for the weekend, so I agreed to have her paint my portrait in oils for a fiver. I still have the painting all these years later and am very proud to have this heirloom created by Claire...My sympathies to Claire's children and family at this difficult time, may she rest easy!

Claire didn’t just brighten up school days—she practically set them on fire with her jokes, laughter, and wildly talented art. She could turn a mundane event into a comedy show and a blank page into a masterpiece. Her energy was so big,she made everyone smile.

Gone far too soon, but somehow still everywhere—telling jokes, and etched into every one of our hearts.

Sophie Paddy & Joe we were shocked and saddened to hear of your Mams passing. We were neighbours for more than 25 years . We had many good Bloomsday celebrations as she was a great fan of James Joyce and as an artist painted him and gifted me one .
It’s fitting that she will be resting in Glasthule on Blooms day.

We are all so very sorry to hear about Claire's death. My family have very fond memories from when Claire used to babysit in our home as a teenager/art student.
Claire was so very kind to me especially after my husband's death, a true friend, involving me in many a good night out in Dalkey and in town, encouraging me through my sadness.
Claire was always so lovely, generous, kind spirited and so very beautiful. She will be greatly missed.
